Cookie Policy
Effective Date: May 1, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Clausearc, Inc. ("Clausearc") uses cookies and similar technologies on clausearc.com and the Clausearc platform. We have written this policy to be specific about what we use and why, because our users are legal professionals who reasonably expect detailed disclosures.
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your session and preferences. We also use localStorage (browser storage) for preference persistence.
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Essential Cookies (Always Active)
These cookies are required for the website and platform to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
- ca_session — Session authentication token. Duration: session. Purpose: Maintains your logged-in state on the platform.
- ca_csrf — Cross-site request forgery protection token. Duration: session. Purpose: Security, prevents unauthorized form submissions.
- ca_cookie_consent (localStorage) — Stores your cookie preference ("essential" or "all"). Duration: 12 months. Purpose: Remembers your choice so we do not show the banner on every visit.
2.2 Analytics Cookies (Optional — Require Consent)
We use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use clausearc.com. This helps us improve page structure, content, and platform onboarding. Analytics data is aggregated and not used to identify individual visitors.
- _ca_analytics_id — First-party analytics identifier. Duration: 13 months. Purpose: Tracks page views, session depth, and feature engagement. Data processed on infrastructure we control; not shared with third-party advertising networks.
- _ca_analytics_session — Session-level analytics grouping. Duration: 30 minutes. Purpose: Groups pageviews within a single visit for session-level analysis.
Analytics cookies are only set if you choose "Accept all" when the cookie banner appears. If you choose "Essential only," analytics cookies are not set and no browsing data is collected.
3. What We Do Not Use Cookies For
Clausearc does not use:
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Third-party social media tracking pixels
- Cross-site behavioral tracking cookies
- Cookies that share data with advertising technology platforms
We do not sell cookie data or browsing data to any third party.
4. Contract Content and Cookies
Contract documents you process through the Clausearc platform are not stored in cookies or browser storage. Document handling is governed by our Privacy Policy and your subscription agreement.
5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can change your cookie preference at any time by clearing the ca_cookie_consent entry from your browser’s localStorage and reloading the page. The preference banner will reappear and allow you to make a new selection.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block all cookies, delete existing cookies, or receive a notification when a cookie is set. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent the Clausearc platform from functioning correctly.
6. Changes to This Policy
If we change the types of cookies we use in a material way, we will update this policy and notify registered users by email. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated to reflect the date of the most recent revision.
